Alpheus J. Mason

Alpheus J. Mason, age 85, of Hastings, passed away at home on March 18, 2015. He was born in Lincoln, NE to Alpheus and Louise Mason on June 21, 1929. He married Joan Zimmermann on February 8, 1958 in Minneapolis. Alpheus was a teacher in the Deer River School District for 28 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts, American Legion, VFW, MEA and NEA. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Alpheus is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Anita Larson (Rick Heyman); and Theresa Melby; grandchildren, Gunnar and Grace Larson; and Alex and Derek Melby; also many nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday (3/21) at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave. S., Minneapolis. A visitation will be held on Friday (3/20) from 5:00 -8:00 p.m.at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings and hour prior to the service on Saturday at Lakewood.
