Alfred D. "Curly" Lundberg, age 91 of Hastings, died peacefully at home on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, surrounded by is loving family. Alfred D., the son of Theodore "T.W." and Agnes (Johnson) Lundberg, was born on March 27, 1929, on the family farm in Lake Benton, Minnesota. In his early years, he attended school in a small rural school house and later Ivanhoe High School. Prior to graduating, Alfred enlisted in the United States Navy and later received and Honorable Discharge. He returned to the family farm and on January 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joan Johnson. Alfred was a life-long baseball and softball enthusiast, and enjoyed playing many games throughout his life. He also enjoyed following many football and hockey teams while baseball wasn't on. Alfred worked many various jobs throughout his early life until beginning with the Parks Department at the City of Hastings in 1971. He eventually transferred over to the Streets Department and retired in 1991. Alfred enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips over the years, as well as traveling with Joan enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and snowmobiling with friends. He was a lifetime member of Lyle Russell VFW Post 1210 in Hastings, as well as a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Alfred will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Valgean and Vernon Lundberg; brother, Clinton Lundberg; and by his sister, Astrid Beck. Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Joan Lundberg; children, Randy (Peggy) Lundberg and Mike (Melissa) Lundberg; grandchildren, David Lundberg, Jeanna Clarke, and Eric Loesch; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Charolette, and Dylan; sister, Audrey Moffatt; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A private family memorial service will be held at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
