Wilma F. Bast

Wilma Frances Dalton Bast (ne Plunkett) Age 88 of Cottage Grove, MN Passed away peacefully on June 29, 2014, in Hastings, MN, surrounded by her loving family. Wilma was born on January 2, 1926 to Guy and Emma Plunkett in Ashland, IL. She graduated from Virginia High School and worked many years as a bookkeeper in Virginia, IL. She married Henry A. Dalton on August 7, 1949, in Virginia, IL, having three daughters, Louise, Frances and Debra. On June 9, 1984, she married Harold Bast of Ashland, IL, gaining three step-children, Suzanne, Bill, and Jim. Wilma and Harold moved to Tucson, AZ in 1995, then returning to Marengo, IL to live with their daughter Fran on her ranch. In 2008, she moved up to Cottage Grove, MN, to live with her other daughter, Louise. Preceded in death by daughter Debra Dalton, husbands Henry Dalton and Harold Bast, brother William Plunkett and son-in-law Frank Morgan. Wilma is survived by her daughters Louise (Robert) Overland and Frances Morgan; stepdaughter Suzanne Bernhardt; stepsons Jim Bast and Bill (Cheryl) Bast; brother Bob (Bev) Plunkett and sister Margaret Blakeman; grandchildren Travis, Katie, Terrel, Shiloy, Shanda; step-grandchildren Tom, Melissa, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Angie, Jeff, Brittney and Kristen; great-grandchildren Evan, Maddy, Sidney, Hayden, Henry, Morgan, Trey, Dylan, Faith, Chase, Colin, Paisley and Ira; step-great grandchildren Cain, Vaughn and Riley; along with many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people who gave such wonderful care for Wilma in her time of need at the Augustana Health Care Center of Hastings, MN. A private, family life celebration will be held at her daughter Fran’s home in Marengo, IL, date to be announced.
