William "Bill" Lee, age 84, of Hastings, died peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. William Roy, the son of William A. and Marcella (Simberg) Lee, was born on May 25, 1930 in St. Paul. He attended Monroe High School and at the age of 17, enlisted in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne. After his honorable discharge, Bill was united in marriage to Marilyn Wadlund on February 15, 1952 in St. Paul. Bill retired after thirty years of service with the City of St. Paul. He was an avid reader, loved animals, and enjoyed wood working. Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Hastings; his ten children, William (Eileen) Lee of Champlin, Patty (Scott) Miesen of Eagan, Thomas Lee of St. Paul, Linda Devito of Woodbury, Nancy Anderson of Arizona, Cathy (Jim) McMenomy of Rosemount, Sandra (Dave) Swenning of Red Wing, Barbara Lee of Hastings, Ronald Lee of Eagan, and John Lee of Hastings; his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; his siblings, Robert Lee of Grand Rapids, Delores Moeller of Hastings, Suzie (Ed) Johnson of Hastings, and James (Mary) Lee of South St. Paul; his beloved cat, Ebony; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Johns Lutheran Church, 202 West Eighth Street, Hastings, with Reverend Jon Zimpelmann officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday morning for one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being completed by the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
