Walter J. Pechacek

Walter J. Pechacek, age 87 of Denmark Township (Hastings) died May 11, 2012 at his home. Walter was born March 4, 1925 in Hastings to Ferdinand and RuthAnn (Poor) Pechacek. He was a 1943 graduate of Hastings High School and a graduate of Dunwoody College in Minneapolis. Walter married Ester Pedersen on September 9, 1950 in Rosemount and worked for 3M for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ester; grandchildren Margrete and Madeline Pechacek; sister Mary Ella; brothers Edward, Earl and Lawrence; also two infant siblings. Walter is survived by his children James (Caroline Mecklin) Pechacek, Richard (Jacky) Pechacek, Judith (Lisa Hedin) Pechacek, and Lisa (Michael) Marcote; grandchildren Nicholas, Elizabeth, David, Kristina, Simon, Linnea Ester, Peter, Tom, Jessica; siblings Lorraine Cater, Loretta Gorgus, William Pechacek, Leona Chilson , Josephine George, Dorothy Meyer, and Helen Rasmussen. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke will be held 11 AM Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W.Fifteenth St., Hastings with visitation held two hours prior to service at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are James Pechacek, Richard Pechacek, Judy Pechacek, Lisa Marcote, David Pechacek, and Simon Pechacek-Hedin. Honorary pallbearers will be VFW members and K of C members. Graveside Military Honors will be provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Denmark Twp. Historical Society School House Fund or the Pechacek Memorial Scholarship at Inver Hills College.
