Walter John Glashan, age 63, of Hastings, died February 15, 2010, while vacationing in Scottsdale, Arizona. Wally was born August 5, 1946 in Mankato, Minnesota, to Iva Elizabeth Murphy and Robert Leo Glashan. Following his 1964 high school graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy. After four years of service, including a year in Vietnam, he returned home to Mankato and enrolled at Minnesota State University Mankato, graduating in 1973, with a degree in business. Wally was united in marriage to Gail Bonita Hokanson, on March 27, 1971, at Campus Lutheran Chapel, Mankato, Minnesota. Prior to his retirement, Wally was Senior Vice President~Operations at Smead Manufacturing Company in Hastings, where he worked for 35 years. Wally was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Michael Glashan of Colorado, and nephew Steven Bauer of Mankato. Wally is survived by his wife, Gail and his sons, Stafford of Wasilla, Alaska, and Jonathon of Chicago, Illinois; Stafford�s wife Francy and his granddaughter, Katarah Jo Glashan. The Mayo Chaplain, Tim Smith, gave comfort with this closing line of aweddingprayer. �May they serve Thee happily and faithfully until one shall lay the other into the arms of God.� Wally's Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 400 9th Street West, Hastings. There will be no visitation prior to the church service. A private interment at Lakeside Cemetery will be held at a later date.
