Vivian A. Cochran, age 88, formerly of Hastings, died September 11, 2009 at the Woodbury Health Care Center. Vivian was born September 13, 1920 in Florence, WI to Gilbert and Mitilda (Wilson) Weackler. She was a 1939 graduate of Duluth Central High School, and married Virgil D. Cochran on January 20, 1945 in Park Rapids, MN. Vivian worked as a beautician in Park Rapids and Bemidji, before moving to Hastings in 1966. After retirement she spent winters in Arizona and summers at Sturgeon Lake. She was a former member of United Methodist Church, Hastings and Al-Anon. Vivian loved craft work, porcelain painting and was an avid bird watcher. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Vivian is survived by her children Nancy (David) Yost of Sturgeon Lake, MN, Thomas (Bonnie) Cochran of Hudson, WI, and Beverly (Jeffrey) Robinson of Newport, MN; 6 grandchildren,8 great-grandchildren; sisters Marian Nelson of Burlington, WA and Lorraine Singleton of Duluth.A visitation will be held from 5-8pm Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings and 1 hour prior to the 11am Wednesday funeral service, officiated by Chaplain Basil Owen. Interment will follow in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Grandchildren pallbearers include Tara Yost, Eric Yost, Dawn Lokken, Ryan Cochran, Paul Robinson, and Amy Starr. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Associaltion.
