Viola Ann Byrne

Viola Ann Byrne of Hastings, passed away at United hospital in St. Paul on March 29, 2009. Viola was born in Hampton to Mathias and Kathryn (Reinardy) Thurmes on February 17, 1935. She married Leo Byrne on October 12, 1957 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. She was preceded in death by two infants and her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Leo Byrne of Hastings; children, Maureen (Mike) Quam of Hastings; Jane Byrne (Barb Price) of Farmington; Greg Byrne of Hammond, WI; and Sarah (Pat) Schaffer of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren, Nicole and Matt Grundtner; Josh and Kathryn Quam; Brandon Byrne; Natalie, Alexis and Samantha Schaffer; sisters, Mildred (Art) Kimmes of New Trier; Betty (Ralph) Eilen of Hampton; Doris Mazurkiewicz of Hastings; Mary (Tom) Falls of Farmington; and Patricia (Gary) Dohmen of Hastings; brothers, Mathias 'Bud' (Peggy) Thurmes and Harry (Connie) Thurmes, both of Hampton; and David (Patricia) Thurmes of Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Robert Altier, Thursday (4/2), 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. Visitation, Wed. (4/1), from 4:00 €“ 8:00 p.m., at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings, and 1 hour prior to service at church. Interment in the church cemetery.
