Verneil P. Thomas

Verneil Phyllis Thomas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother passed away peacefully on November 24, 2010 at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Active for many years in volunteer work with the VFW, the Am. Legion, and Regina Hospital Auxiliaries, as well as other volunteer work in Hastings, she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Born November 23, 1927 to Seth and Nina (Fredrickson) Bremseth in Red Wing, she married Edward �Jim� Thomas on August 2, 1947. She and her husband moved to Hastings in 1955, living in Nininger Township until moving in 2004 to a townhome in Hastings. Verneil was preceded in death by her parents; sister Eleanor Schlicting; and son-in-law Dave Lobejko. She is survived by her husband Jim; children Jack (Ginny) Thomas, Becky Pederson, all of Hastings, Don Thomas of Hollywood, FL, Cathy (Mike) Norgaard of Hastings, Pat (Mark) Freeman of Faribault, Julie (John) Zgoda, Mary (Jack) Caudill, Michele (Jerry) Russell, Sandy (Scott) Myers, and Peggy (Tom) Fox, all of Hastings; 29 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Coral Peterson of Northfield; also many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Doug Duin will be held 11am Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Our Saviour�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 W. Ninth St., Hastings, followed by interment in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8pm Friday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh St., Hastings and 1 hour prior to service at church. Her grandsons, Mike Thomas, John Devine, David Patrick and Steve Lobejko, Jeremy, Jason, and Jesse Freeman, Jim, Dan Zgoda, Eric Russell, Alex Myers, and Adam Fox will serve as pallbearers. Memorials are preferred to Our Saviour�s Youth Activities or Regina Hospital Auxiliary.
