Teresa M. Madland

Teresa M. Madland, age 82, of Hastings passed peacefully, April 22, 2021, at Mercy One Hospice in Mason City, Iowa following a recent illness. Teresa Madalen Ficker, was born July 3, 1938 on the family farm near New Trier MN to Michael and Theresa (Beissel) Ficker. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Schools in New Trier. Teresa met her future husband Glen Madland in 1961 when he was helping her parents move. They were married October 6, 1962 at St. Mary's Church in New Trier. They enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage. Teresa was a woman of strong faith, who was very active in the church. She worked many years at the Mississippi Belle restaurant as a waitress and made hundreds of lasting friendships there. She also worked at Cottage Grove Target for a number of years. Teresa was an excellent cook, baker, canner, gardener and loved watching birds and enjoyed all types of nature. She loved taking long walks and she enjoyed playing cards, games with family, and going to the casino. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she never missed sending cards for each of their birthdays each year. She was a lover of life and people. Teresa is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Stanley, Paul, Alois (Ike), Jerome (Jerry) & Joe Ficker, and Bernadette Lorentz. She is survived by her husband Glen, 3 children David (Diana Brasch) Madland, Michelle (Dan) Ninefeldt & Ann Madland; 7 grandchildren Jacque, Paul, Joshua (Cassie), Erik, Mark, Justin & Ayla. Also by sisters Mary LaValla, Sr. Rose Ann Ficker, SSND, Pat (Ken) Carl & Virginia (Jack) Majeski. Visitation for Teresa will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St., Hastings. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. West, Hastings. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.
