Roy Glasby

Roy Glasby, age 62 of Cannon Falls, died peacefully at home on Sunday morning, August 20, 2017, following a recent battle with cancer. Roy Eugene, the son of Vernon and Matilda (Moes), was born on February 11, 1955, in Hastings. Following his graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1973, Roy enlisted in the United States Army where he served active duty for three years and also in the Reserves for three years prior to his honorable discharge. On May 24, 1980, Roy was united in marriage to Katherine "Kathy" Shea. He was a longtime employee at Bailey Nursery, and in 1998, began working for Amesbury Group where he recently retired from. Roy loved bear and deer hunting, fishing with his buddies, being up north, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Vernon; and by his niece, Sheila Glasby. Roy is survived by his wife, Kathy of Cannon Falls; his two children, Chad Glasby of Hastings, and Carrie (Chris Stern) Glasby of Red Wing; his grandchildren, Christian, Marcus, Kayla, Anna, Jaylee, and Addison; his mother, Matilda Glasby; his siblings, Robert Glasby, Wayne (Vickie) Glasby, Mary (Bob Wolfe) Wells, and Jean Kavitz; his godson, Brian Kavitz; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Roys Life will be held 6 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017, at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings, with Gordon Gathright officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. of Friday evening. Roys family also invites you to join them at his previously scheduled benefit at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Eagles Club, 1220 Vermillion Street in Hastings. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
