Rosella "Rose" Lucker

Rosella "Rose" Lucker, age 88 of Hastings, died peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Augustana Care of Hastings, following an extended illness. Rosella Catherine Lucker was born in Iona, MN, on December 26, 1927 to George and Mary (Ebbers) Ackerman. She attended St. Columbia School in Iona, and graduated with the class of 1945. On September 13, 1948, she was united in marriage to Milhon Lucker in Jackson, MN. Over the course of the first twelve years of their marriage, they moved over 55 times, always pulling their trailer home, before settling in Hastings in 1960. Mom made many friends during their moves and kept in contact with them through cards and letters. In her working years, Rose worked at Hardware Hank and Thrifty White Drug. She also was a member of the VFW, Lions, and volunteered at Regina Medical Center. She kept busy playing cards, crocheting, reading, and was always ready to get in the car and go places. Her family was most important to her, she loved them unconditionally. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milhon; her brother, Joe Ackerman; her sister, Agnes Bruns; her brothers-in-law, Clarence Lucker, Buck Fury, and Jess Bruns; and by her sister-in-law, Helen (John) Van Maanen. Rose is survived by her daughter, Karen (Clem) Meyers of Hastings; her grandchildren, Scott (Carolyn) Meyers and Stacy (Charlie) Fox; her great granddaughters, Taylor and Jenna Fox; her step great grandchildren, Ashley, Eric, Jordan and Justin Wiesenberger; her brother, John (Connie) Ackerman of Mitchell, SD; her sisters, Evelyn Lucker of Slayton, MN, and Marcella Fury of Fulda, MN; her sister-in-law, Marge Ackerman of Iona, MN; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hastings. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday. A special thank you to all the nurses, caregivers, and hospice staff at Augustana Care of Hastings who gave such wonderful care to mom during these last two years.
