Rosamond F. "Rose" Fossen

August 19, 1930 — December 22, 2020

Rose F. Fossen, age 90 of Hastings, MN, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Regina Senior Living. Rosamond Frances, the daughter of Jerome and Elsie (Kasal) Drahos, was born on August 19, 1930, in Silver Lake, Minnesota. Rose lived on the Kasal Family Farms near Stewart, MN until moving to Mankato to attend Loyola High School. During High School she had jobs at Goettles grocery, a Chinese restaurant, and she cared for Ms Jones in North Mankato. After graduation Rose was united in marriage to Kenneth "Ken" Lloyd Fossen in 1950, in North Mankato, Minnesota, and recently they were blessed to celebrate 70 years of marriage. Rose valued her in-laws Mary and Harry Fossen and their eight children and their spouses. Ken’s siblings and their families spent many holidays and Sundays at the elder Fossen’s home. Rose was a dedicated mother of eight that loved raising her children and helping them in any way she could. In North Mankato, Mom was involved in the Holy Rosary Church and School as well as volunteering as a Camp Fire Girl Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Census taker and voter registration volunteer. The Fossen family moved to Hastings MN in 1972. She was a longtime bookkeeper at Ken and Dave's Auto Repair and at the United Methodist Church in Hastings. With her love of singing, she enjoyed being part of the Morning Star Prayer Community which became People of Praise for many years. Rose enjoyed watching the birds, flower gardening, garage sales and various arts and crafts. No matter what the situation, Rose always saw the positive in everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt, Emily Kasal; and by her brother-in-law, Paul Binet. Rose is survived by her husband, Ken; children, Connie Fossen (Mark Manus), Joy (Rich) Lax, Rayetta (Danny) Silverman, Gregory (Sheila Sweeny) Fossen, Alan (Yasuyo Maruyama) Fossen, Charles (Bernadette) Fossen; Julie Hackey (Kirby) Coppedge, and Jennifer Fossen (Heather DuCharme); sister, Lillian Binet; and by innumerable relatives and friends.
