Robert W. Schuster

Robert W. Schuster, age 78 of Afton, died peacefully on Friday evening, December 18, 2015 at his home after a recent diagnosis of metastic melanoma brain cancer. Robert W., the son of Ernest and Esther (Hoffer) Schuster, was born on June 12, 1937 in Hugo, Minnesota. Following his education, Robert was a longtime construction project manager as well as owner of E-Z Livin Resort in Luck, Wisconsin and Schuster Engraving in Afton. He was an avid skier and stained glass craftsman. Robert was a member of Mensa International Society, the Masonic Lodge as well as being a longtime member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Afton where he was a past President and Council Member for many years. He was united in marriage to Roberta Kay Johnson on August 13, 1992 in Afton and she later preceded him in death on February 15, 2013.Robert is survived by his brother, James (Carol) Schuster; his children,Cheryl (Roger) Burgmeier of Hastings, Shelly (Tim) White of Hudson andShaun Schuster of Oakdale; granddaughter, Shanna (Will) Van Duzer; stepchildren, Debbie (Kevin) Issacs and Julie (Joe) Briant.In lieu of flowers memorials preferred. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2015 at Memorial Lutheran Church, 15730 Afton Blvd. South, Afton, with interment following in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings, and will continue at church for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Pallbearers are Roger Burgmeier, Tim White, Will Van Duzer, Rick Schuster, Paul Schuster, Wayne Wentworth. Military honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210.
