Robert W. "Bob" Murray

Robert W. “Bob” Murray, age 81 of Independence, Iowa, and formerly of Gordon, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center – West Campus in Independence. Bob was born on August 20, 1940, in Hastings, Minnesota, the son of Leo James and Esther Aldia (Heinz) Murray. He graduated from Hastings High School and served in the Army National Guard. On May 28, 1960, he and the former Mary Jane Langenfeld were married in Hastings. She preceded him in death in 2013. Bob was a foreman for 3M Company until retiring in 1998 when he and Mary Jane relocated to Gordon, Wisconsin. Bob was a lifelong catholic and loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and wintering in Winterhaven, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Murray,; wife, Mary Jane; brother, John Murray; and by his two sisters, Deanne Serres and Sharon Jane Murray. Bob is survived by one son, Rick Murray of Hastings; three daughters, Kris McMurrin of Winthrop, Iowa, Kelly (Jerry Girgen) Loesch of Hastings, and Ann (Tom O’Brien) Murray of Duluth, Minnesota; nine grandchildren and three great grandsons; one sister, Kathy (Robert) Armbruster of Hastings, and one brother, Warren (Sharon R.) Murray of Vermillion, Minnesota; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. Interment will follow at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Cemetery. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service, and to a reception immediately following the graveside service, all at the funeral home on Thursday. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
