Rita T. Stubbs, age 100 of Hastings, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 5, 2021, at Augustana Care of Hastings. Rita Theresa, the daughter of Robert and Catherine (Kuhn) Rother, was born on February 21, 1920, in Hampton. Following her education, Rita was united in marriage to Arnold "Arnie" Fox on September 10, 1941, at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. They were blessed with four daughters prior to his sudden passing. She later married Gerald Stubbs on May 28, 1988 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in St. Paul, and he also preceded her in death. Rita was a longtime Smead Mfg. employee. She loved to dance and play cards, and also enjoyed needle working, sewing, and making jewelry. When her children were young, she also enjoyed helping as a leader in 4-H. Rita was a very dedicated catholic who enjoyed leading the rosary for many years, and dedicated her time as the President of St. Ann's Society. For the last nine years, she enjoyed living at Regina Senior Living in Hastings until her health required her to move. She was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; and by her husbands, Arnold Fox & Gerald Stubbs. Rita is survived by her daughters, Victoria (Frank) Landsberger, Joyce (Nicholas) Lorentz, Jean (Dale) Thompson, Mary (Earl) Wagner; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marlee Rother and Audrey Rother; and by other relatives and friends. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton, with Father Michael Tix officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association, or to the American Breast Cancer Society in her memory. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
