Rita A. Braun

Rita A. Braun, age 80, of Hastings passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 10, 2011.Rita was born on March 31, 1931 in Hastings to Herman and Anna (Rollinger) Meyers. She was united in marriage to Edward A. Braun on October 3, 1951 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. Rita was a graduate of Bethlehem Academy in Faribault. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward and son Stephen; brothers George, John, and Herman Meyers; sister Mary Riegert. Rita is survived by her children Laura, Sharon, Peter (Barb), and Jean (Douglas) Levine; 8 grandchildren Brian, Samantha (Ryan), Daniel, Anna (Matt), Tony, Jamie, Phillip, and Steven; 2 great-granddaughters Elli and Olivia; siblings Kenneth (Pat) Meyers, and Lenora "Lee" (Gene) Endres; many nieces, nephews, and friends. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. James Perkl will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday,August 15, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth St., Hastings. Visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. Sunday, August 14, 2011 atCaturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh St., Hastings,and 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in St. John�s Cemetery, Vermillion. The pallbearers are Bob Meyers, Paul Meyers, Mark Endres, Tom Schmitt, Carolyn Hyten, and Patrick Meyers; the honorary pallbearer is Jessica Hull.
