Richard "Rick" Jones

Richard T. “Jonesy” Jones, age 57 of Hastings, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home from natural causes on Wednesday May 11, 2022. Richard Thomas, the son of David and Elaine (schneider) Jones, was born on June 22, 1964, in St. Paul. Rick grew up in Hastings on the Mississippi River with his mother and 2 brothers, and graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1983. After high school he started working at the Carpenter Nature Center where he developed his love for Eagles. Rick then worked various landscaping jobs prior to working at ABC Seamless Siding company of Newport for many years where he discovered his talent of perfecting siding application. Rick landed at his final position with Beissel Windows and Siding in 2004. He had a very creative mind and often drew many pictures as well as having a talent for woodworking. Rick was an incredible handyman and could fix just about anything including his vehicles, especially his beloved white Ford Bronco, which he was known for bopping around town in along with going mudding in. His favorite things to do were spend time with his grandchildren, watching “Rocky” movies and going to Monster truck shows, as well as attending the Renaissance Festival where he and his wife Vicki were united in marriage 19 years ago. Rick was a gentle, caring, hardworking and loving person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and he will be deeply missed but never ever forgotten. Most of all, his lawn and landscaping that he put so much love and work into were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his father, David Jones; grandparents, Paul and Francis Schneider; and by his uncle, Dan Schneider. Rick is survived by the love of his life of thirty-four years, Vicki (Johnson); children, Lance Jones and Melissa (David) Schuster; grandchildren, Alexis, Summer, Evie, Tatum, Mikaya and McKenna; brothers, Mike Jones (Cody), and Larry Jones; aunts, Paulette Adkins, Carol (Steve) Boie; sisters-in-law, Karin (Steve) Wojtowicz and Debra Bauer; and by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the American Legion in Hastings. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
