Peter D. Schoen

Peter D. Schoen, age 79, of Hastings died September 29, 2012 in St. Paul following a brief illness.Peter was born July 2, 1933 in Hastings to Cyrus and Dorothy (Shingledecker) Schoen. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married to Elizabeth �Betty� Moris on April 15, 1988 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. He was a former barber who owned Mr. Barber in Cottage Grove and Newport and also operated Mr. Apple orchard in Denmark Township. He was a member of the Hastings VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Kurt, and a brother Paul. He is survived by his wife Betty, 4 daughters Linda (Rich) Myklebust of Hastings, Shari (Doug) Maxon of Farmington, Barbara (James) Bowen of River Falls and Sandy (Jim) Leifeld of Hastings; grandchildren Elizabeth, Lucas, Elijah, Savannah, Georgia, Logan and Sam. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 4-8 PM at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 Seventh St. E., Hastings and also 1 hour prior to the funeral at church on Thursday. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke, will be at Noon Thursday, October 4, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth St. W., Hastings. Interment with military honors provided by Hastings VFW Post 1210, is in the parish cemetery.
