Paul H. Augustine, age 79, of Hastings died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the Afton Care Center, Afton, MN following a lengthy illness.Paul was co-founder and principal owner of Afton Alps Ski Area.He was born October 17, 1931 in Hastings to Lawrence and Marie (Heue) Augustine. He was a graduate of Hastings High School Class of 1949.Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rose (Jirik) of Hastings; by a daughter Amy (John) Reents of Hastings; 2 sons David (Tracie) Augustine of Woodbury and John (Monica) Augustine of Stillwater; 3 grandchildren Nicole, Jackson Paul, and Amanda; 1 brother Robert Augustine, 2 sisters Rose Marie Sieben of Hastings and Sr. Dolores Augustine of Monroe, NY, also many nieces and nephews.The Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jerome Keiser, will be11AMThursday, January 6, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 16770 13th St. S., Lakeland. The visitation will be from 4-8PM Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church(IN SANCTUARY), 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings, and also one hour prior to the service at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Cottage Grove Cemetery.
