Patrick James Riley, of St. Paul, died of natural causes, on Monday, March 9, at his home. Patrick, the son of James and Sophie Riley, was born on March 8, 1957, at Miller Hospital in St. Paul. He was the 6th child of James and Sophie, and the Doctor always delivered the 6th baby free. He grew up on the Riley family farm south of Hastings. Patrick graduated from Hastings High School in 1975, and from the University of St. Thomas in 1980. He was married to Brenda Gilbertson on June 23, 1979. Together, they had three daughters, Danielle, Brittany, and Jenna. Patrick worked in sales for many years, and most recently at Menards in St. Paul. Pat had a love of sports which propelled him into high school athletics in which he excelled in both football and track. He shared his love of sports with his daughters and assisted in coaching their many youth sporting events. In his later years, Pat enjoyed spending time cheering on Minnesota sports teams, most specifically the Vikings and the Twins. His competitive nature carried over into a love of playing cards, which he shared with his family and friends. Pat will be remembered for his quick wit, charisma, and sarcastic sense of humor. He will always be cherished as the “fun” uncle and dad by his daughters, their friends, and his many nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Stephen, his brother Kenneth, and his sister, Loretta Chezick. Patrick is survived by his daughters; Danielle (Jake) Converse; Brittany (Rob) Schmidt; Jenna (Mike) Ferrin; four beautiful grandchildren: Max and Griffin Converse and Nora and Naomi Schmidt and former wife, Brenda Riley, sister; Mary (Charles) Porter, brother, James, sister; Ann (James Lucius), sister; Lisa (Don) Schuldes, brother; Sean (Holly), aunt; Mildred M Ruhr, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
