Nyla M. Rothove

Nyla M. Rothove, age 83 of Hastings, died peacefully on Friday evening, May 4, 2018, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living in Hastings. Nyla Mae, the daughter of Marcus and Catherine (Girgen) Kieffer, was born on August 20, 1934, in Oakes, North Dakota. Following her education, Nyla was united in marriage to LeRoy E. Rothove Sr. on October 29, 1955, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. In their younger years, Nyla and LeRoy enjoyed dancing and raising their family where she was a devoted homemaker. Nyla loved gardening, reading, playing cards, and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy Sr., and by her six siblings. Nyla is survived by her children, Cynthia (Mark) Slyman, Andrew F. Rothove, LeRoy E. Rothove Jr., and Joseph Rothove; grandchildren, Rachel Huster, Krissy (Scott) Simpkins, Caitlyn Rothove, Marcus Rothove (fiance, Danielle Reinertson), Mark Slyman Jr., Mike Slyman, and Tom Slyman; great grandchildren, Ayden, Ashton, Cali, Jocelyn, Kysen, Lydia, and Natalie; brother, Allan Kieffer; sister-in-law, Wanda Gunter; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings. Private family interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings, and will continue for one hour prior to Mass at church on Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association in memory of Nyla. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
