Norma B. Marsh, of Hastings, passed away peacefully from covid on December 30, 2020, at White Pine Memory Care in Cottage Grove, at the age of 91. Norma Belle was born on October 28, 1929 to Palmer and Mabel Laingen, and grew up on the family farm west of Odin, Minnesota. She graduated from Butterfield High School, 1947, in a class of 22. She attended St. Olaf College in 1948. After an enjoyable year at St.Olaf, she moved home and found a job in St James.. It was there where she met Norman Marsh, and in 1951 they were married. They lived in Washington D.C. for a while, where Norman was stationed in the Navy. After Norm’s discharge, they had brief stays in Barron, Wisconsin, St. James, Faribault, and Minneapolis, before settling in Hastings in 1958. In 1959 she started a job in the Dakota County Auditors Office. In 1984 she was appointed as County Auditor and held that position for 10 years. She retired from that position in 1994 after 35 years with Dakota County. In 2000, she started working at Target, where she worked for 13 1/2 years. She filled in as the Welcome Wagon Hostess for Hastings for two winters. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women(BPW), Sons of Norway, the church bell choir, Regina Hospital Auxiliary, card clubs, coffee groups, Dunvilla group, and golf league. She loved to travel and went on eight cruises with her good friends, as well as many other trips. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman Marsh; her three brothers, Ken, Bruce, and Arvid Laingen; sisters in law, Evy Laingen, Lorraine Laingen, and RaeAnn Marsh. She is survived by her children, Brad Marsh and Bruce (Lori) Marsh; grandchildren, Nick (Rachel) Marsh and Brian Marsh; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins Her family would love to have a “normal” visitation, so we could thank all her wonderful friends for their support and friendship through the years. THANK YOU. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we need to postpone that gathering until a future, safer date. Due to COVID-19 a PRIVATE family service is being held. A Celebration of Norma’s life will be held at a later date, when it is safe to do so. The Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel is serving the family
