Nicolas James Aardappel

Nicolas James "Nico" Aardappel, age 23 of Hastings, died Monday, March 20, 2017, in Mankato, where he was attending Minnesota State University Mankato. Nicolas was born May 3, 1993 in Maplewood, MN and graduated from Simley High School. He loved playing hockey and enjoyed the Minnesota Wild. Nico loved being active, whether spending time in the gym or the outdoors. He was interested in technology and was currently studying computer science and engineering in college. Nico was a kind, helpful and generous person who always shared his smile. Nico is survived by his parents, John and Linda McNamara of Hastings; father, Shawn Amick of West St. Paul; his sister Olivia and brother Roman; grandparents, Encarnacion and Albert Rathbun, John and Carol McNamara, Paul Amick and Kathi Amick; also aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at Christs Family Church, 518 East Second Street in Hastings, with Rev. Joe Hannah officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. A reception will follow at the home of John and Linda McNamara.
