Myrtle E. "Myrtie" Peterson, age 100 of Hastings and formerly South Minneapolis, died peacefully on Thursday evening, July 30, 2020, at Augustana Care of Hastings. Myrtle Elanora, the daughter of Nels and Hedvig (Soderberg) Peterson, was born on December 23, 1919, in Tyler, Minnesota. Myrtie attended Dassel High School and graduated with the class of 1937. She then began her life-long career at Sears as an Assistant Buyer for their catalog, and retired in 1978. Myrtie lived her entire life with her sisters Florence and Hazel in the South Minneapolis until their passing. They enjoyed vacationing together, especially the North Shore, and spending time with their very large family. Myrtie enjoyed crafting, especially needle point, embroidery, crocheting, and plastic canvas, and would often gift her items to family and friends. She was a woman of very strong faith, and was a dedicated member of Word of Grace in Minneapolis for over 60 years. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her many family members whenever she could. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Floyd, Delmer, Clarence, Art, Florence, Hazel, and three in infancy; and by other family members. Aunt Myrtie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Private family graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
