Monnie Doris Gerten (Welden) Monnie was born Hebbardsville, Kentucky on December 16, 1931, the daughter of Mattie (Harden) and Leslie Welden. She attended school in Memphis, Tennessee and proudly finished her GED later in her life. She met Matt Gerten when he was in the Marine Corps and they were married on June 11, 1955. As a family, they spent a lot of time camping and taking road trips to Memphis to see her family. Matt and Monnie spent a lot of their time traveling. Their favorite trips included time in Europe, Germany, Mexico, and throughout the United States. She loved to get together with family and friends to play cards. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, and being a member of Bible Memory Association. Monnie was a very giving person and loved people. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her life and she would send them cards and gifts in the mail. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
