Mildred "Millie" Kimmes

Mildred A. "Millie" Kimmes, age 84, of New Trier died September 27, 2014. She was born June 4, 1930 in Hampton, MN to Math and Kathryn (Reinardy) Thurmes. Millie married Arthur Kimmes January 31, 1952 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. Millie was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress in her early years. She was an avid gardener, baker and cardplayer. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Doris Mazurkiewicz and Viola Byrne, and a brother-in-law Ralph Eilen. She is survived by her husband Art, her children Shirley Kimmes of Farmington, Diane (John) Swedin of Farmington, Robert (Michelle) Kimmes of Empire, Mary (Al) Nauer of New Trier, Dan (Patty) Kimmes of Hastings, Lisa (Earl) Lemler of Hager City, WI; 11 grandchildren Heidi and Erik Swedin; Heather, Dustin Trista Kimmes; Becky (Pat) ODonnell, Nicole and Katie Nauer, Terri (James) Brewer, Elizabeth Kimmes and Nathan Lemler; 5 great grandchildren Kenrick, Zoe, Michael, Shain and Adrianna. Siblings Betty Eilen, Mary Catherine (Tom) Falls, Math (Peggy) Thurmes, Harry (Connie) Thurmes, Pat (Gery) Dohmen, David (Patty) Thurmes, and a brother-in-law Leo Byrne. A visitation for Millie Kimmes will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday October 2, 2014 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 Seventh Street East, Hastings and also 1 hour prior to the funeral Mass at church. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. Marys Catholic Church in New Trier, MN. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Dustin Kimmes, Erik Swedin, Nathan Lemler, Katie Nauer, James Brewer and Pat ODonnell.
