Mildred M. Nygaard, age 97 of Woodbury and formerly of Hastings, died peacefully at The Villas of Woodbury. Mildred Myrtle, the daughter of Ben and Cora (Berg) Krogh, was born on June 20, 1924, in Wanamingo, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Wanamingo High School, Mildred was united in marriage to Rudolph Tollefsrud and later to Kermit Nygaard. Mildred moved to Hastings in 1963 and was a longtime member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales, and enjoyed having a good cup of coffee with neighbors and friends. As her health began to fail, Mildred moved to The Villas of Woodbury to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and by two brothers and two sisters. Mildred is survived by her children, Michael (Kathy) Tollefsrud and Connie (Terry) Souder; grandchildren, Kim (Steve), Ken, Chris, and Erin (Keene); great grandchildren, Taylor, Alyssa, and Isabel; sister, Blondie Janssen; special friends, David and Kari Vortherms; and by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Pastor Lloyd Menke officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris and Ken Tollefsrud; nephews, Scott and Paul Tollefsrud and Lon Knudson; and special friend, David Vortherms. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior and to a light reception following the graveside prayers, all at church on Friday. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
