Mike Gegen

Mike Gegen, age 69, of Hastings, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at his home. Mike was born May 2, 1939 in Hastings to Francis and Florence (Ryan) Gegen. He was a 1957 Hastings High School graduate, and attended Winona State where he was a member of the golf team. He was a member of the National Guard. Mike was united in marriage to Carol Sherman on December 29, 1962 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Hastings. He owned Mike Gegen Realty/Gallery of Homes, and was a real estate appraiser until 2007. He was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tom Gegen. Mike is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Patrick (Marghee Maupin) of Kaui, HI, and Jana Gegen (Gary Daist) of Prescott; grandchildren, Tyler, Blaise, Olivia, Chia, Sierra, Melosa, Cassidy, Marquita, Che, and Tiffany; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Charles (Susan) Gegen of Bullhead City, AZ, Mary Erickson of Hastings, and Kathleen (Mike) Connelly of Hastings; sister in law, Janean Gegen of Boulder City, NV; also many nieces and nephews. The Memorial Mass, officiated by Rev. James Perkl, will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 10:00 AM, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hastings, 2035 Fifteenth Street West, Hastings. The visitation will be on Monday, March 30, 2009, from 4:00-8:00PM at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Private interment.
