Michael R. Kranz

Michael Raymond Kranz was born on January 2, 1951, in Hastings, MN and died February 16, 2015, peacefully at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle against throat cancer. Michael is survived by his wife Maureen (Crist); daughters Sarah and Brianna; son Scott and daughter-in-law Jill; sisters Sharon Buffo (Jim), Sandy Bartelma (Bart), and Tina Mann; brothers Marty (Nancy) and Ted (Barb); as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille, and father, Jerry. Michael graduated from Hastings High School in 1969 and received a football scholarship at Mankato State College. He went on to receive his Masters Degree in Counseling at River Falls, Wisconsin. He worked in mental health and chemical dependency before transitioning into a successful career in real estate. Mikes passion for life and familywas contagious. He loved to sing, dance, and make people smile and laugh. His generosity and care for others was unmatched. He left behind a legacy of love, one that will never die. He was the best example of how to live life to the fullest and we will carry his spirit with us in our hearts forever. Visitationwill be held Thursday, February 19, from 4 to 8 PM at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street in Hastings, MN and one hour prior to the 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 20, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2035 West Fifteenth Street, Hastings.
