Michael "Mike" Bauer

Michael "Mike" Bauer, age 53 of Ellsworth, WI, died unexpectedly on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia following injuries sustained in a tragic accident. Michael John, the son of John and Marlys (Krismer) Bauer, was born on September 2, 1962, in Hastings. Mike attended Hastings High School and graduated with the class of 1981. He was a longtime construction worker, first starting out with JHL Construction where he learned everything about the trade from John Langenfeld. Mike later was a partner in Harris-Bauer Construction and eventually Bauer Built Homes for the last thirteen years in which he operated until the time of his death. He was a longtime and dedicated volunteer at the Hastings Fire Department and took great pride in helping with the annual Booya feed. Outside of working, Mike truly loved fishing, hunting, gardening, baking, canning, and most of all, his chickens. He will be remembered for always having fun with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Joseph. Mike is survived by his children, Lindsey (Lance) Lisowski, Jenna (Pat DeBaere) Bauer and Emma Bauer; his step-children, Lexy (Josh Jacobus) Lenhart and Joshua (Jenny Watt) Lenhart; his grandchildren, Logan, Bentley, Gracie and soon to be baby Lisowski; his parents, John and Marlys Bauer; his siblings, Duane (Colleen) Bauer and Colleen "Kelly" (Doug) Franzen; his special friend, Cindy Davis; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings. Visitation will be held AT CHURCH on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will continue for one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday, also at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in memory of Mike. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
