Michael D. Offtermatt

Mike Offtermatt, age 57, of Hastings went to the Lord on May 4, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike graduated from Texas Tech University and pursued his career primarily in sales management with veterinary product companies, first with Mars Corporation and most recently with Butler-Schein. He also showed exceptional skill as a woodworker, a lifelong hobby. He brought great energy to all his endeavors. His outgoing spirit and personality made him a friend of many. Three weeks prior to his death, knowing the end was near, he requested a celebration party which was then organized by his wife, Dianne and attended by family, colleagues, neighbors, and other friends, all of whom paid their respect and love to Mike. Although very ill, he was able to respond and participate. He will be missed! He was preceded in death by father, Wilbur and brother, Edward 'Dude'. He is survived by wife, Dianne and daughter Taylor of Hastings; son, Travis of Boulder, CO; daughter, Jennifer (Jesse) Carlucci of Mission Viejo, CA; mother, Sara of Coronado, CA; brother, Jeff of New Braunfels, TX; brother, Jamey of Dallas, TX; sister, Amy of Manasses, VA. A Memorial Service, officiated by Fr. Jim Perkl, will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
