Matilda C. Glasby

Matilda C. Glasby, age 92 of Red Wing and formerly of Hastings, died peacefully at Loving Resident's Assisted Living on Wednesday morning, December 29, 2021. Matilda Catherine, the daughter of John and Catherine (Pasch) Moes, was born on July 9, 1929, in New Trier. On November 25, 1950, Matilda was united in marriage to Vernon Glasby at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. After the birth of their first child, they moved into Hastings and raised their family. Matilda was a longtime Resident Aide at Regina Medical Center, and later retired after twenty-plus years of employment. She enjoyed baking, canning fresh vegetables, playing cards, fishing with Vernon, and spending time with her grandchildren. She always had a loving personality and was known to have a good joke or prank when she was with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; son, Roy; granddaughter, Sheila Glasby; and by her siblings, Raymond Moes, Clarence Moes, Gilbert Moes, and Florence Nogle. Matilda is survived by her children, Bob Glasby, Jean Kavitz, Mary Wells (Bob Wolff), and Wayne (Vickie) Glasby; daughter-in-law, Katherine Glasby; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; brother, Ben (Sharon) Moes; and by many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Matthew Shireman officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., and to a reception following the graveside service, all at church on Monday. Matilda's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Loving Resident's Assisted Living for the loving care they provided to Matilda. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
