Mary J. Kimmes

Mary J. Kimmes, age 76, of rural Hastings, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in Hastings. Mary Jane Hernlem was born January 8, 1943 in Red Wing, Mn to Arthur and Marion (Van Decar) Hernlem. She was married on September 3, 1962, to Roger Kimmes at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Wing. She was a homemaker and they raised 3 sons, Roger Jr., Randy and Dan. Mary was a woman of faith, she loved to travel with friends and cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Judy Lawrence. Mary is survived by her husband Roger, her sons Roger Jr. "Fuzzy" (Shayle) Kimmes, Randy (Jenny) Kimmes and Dan (Linda) Kimmes; 7 grandchildren; Dustin, Lily, Hunter, Andrew, Danielle, Alexa and Caleb; sisters Karen (Rich) Meier, Pat Schroeder, Janet Tomhave and Peggy McNabb; sisters in law Egina (Jim) Reinardy and Sylvia (Steve) Bauer; also by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Terry Beeson, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville. A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
