Mary C. Lorentz

Mary C. Lorentz, age 70 of Hastings died unexpectedly October 1, 2013 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Mary was born July 11, 1943 in Hastings to Francis and Agnes (Doffing) Dummer. She was a Hastings High School graduate, class of 1961 and married Kenneth W. Lorentz on November 6, 1965 in New Trier. She was a long time Dakota County employee, retiring in 2007 from the Dakota Co. Auditors office. Mary enjoyed traveling and game shows. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; sister Jan Burr and brother Eugene Dummer. Mary is survived by her daughters Becky (Tom) Ruiz of St. Paul and Roxie (Chris) Welter of Cambridge, MN; son Mike (Cheryl) Lorentz of Des Moines, IA; also ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brothers Gordon Dummer of CA and Fr. Don Dummer of MA. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Stan Mader and Mary's brother, Fr. Don Dummer will be held 11 AM Saturday, October 5 at St. Mary�s Catholic Church of New Trier. Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM Friday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Dean Lorentz, Robert Buck, Andy Magnusson, Jeff Burr, Steve Lorentz and Wayne Lorentz.
