Marvin E. Carter, age 83 of Hastings, died peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at his home. Marvin Emmet, the son of George and Hazel (Shoen) Carter, was born on January 10, 1934, in Herman, Minnesota. Following his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Marvin spent most of his career with Thermo King producing temperature control products for the transportation industry prior to retiring in 1994. Marvin loved spending quality time with his wife, Belva (Wallin) Domogalla, whom he was married to on September 24, 2005. He was proud of his family, their history and was very involved with the genealogy and creating his family tree. Marvin was known as a busy "walker and talker" to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Inga (Westerberg) Carter; an infant sister; brother, Charles Carter and grandson, Jacob Schroeder. Marvin is survived by his wife, Belva Domogalla; son, Mark Carter; daughter, Debra (Randy) Gustafson; stepchildren, Gary (JoAnn) Domogalla, Lista (Dean) Klocow, Karen (Rick) Refshaw, Sandi (Bill) Dufault, Kevin (Bobbi Jo) Domogalla and Karla (Dave) Schroeder; 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 on the way; brother, Ernest Carter and sister, Celia Schmidt along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Our Saviors Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 W. 9th Street, Hastings, with Pastor Doug Duin officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service at church. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with military honors.Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
