Marvin D. Hicks, age 74, of Hastings died at his home after a brief illness. Marvin DuWayne Hicks was born May 24, 1941 in Hastings, to Clarence and Neoma (Estes) Hicks. He attended the Hastings Schools and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a retired welder and maintenance worker for Koch Refining/Flint Hills. Marvin married Margaret "Maggie" Schaack on July 18, 1970 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Willie, Chuck and Jim; and sisters Florence Rischette, Mona Ginn, Judy Boecker and 2 infant sisters. He is survived by his wife Maggie, daughter Bridgett Hicks, son Jim Hicks, all of Hastings and his "favorite granddaughter" MacKenzie; siblings Clarence (Marlene) Hicks of Cottage Grove, Dick (Jan) Hicks of Holdenville, OK, David (Bev) Hicks of Cottage Grove, Jerry (Penny) Hicks of Mount Zion, IL, Barb Bowers of Garland, TX and brother-in-law, Gary Boecker. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, 3/22/16 from 5-8 pm at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 201 7th Street East, Hastings, MN and also on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the funeral. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. David Hennen, will be Wednesday 3/23/16 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th Street West, Hastings. Interment with military honors provided by the Hastings VFW Post 1210 will follow in Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Pallbearers are Cheryl Zimer, Kim Wylie, Paul Hicks, Wayne Hicks, Pee Wee Hicks and Dan Hicks; honorary pallbearers are Charlie Betty Buggs and Norma Swanson.
