Martha B. Keeney

Martha B. Keeney, age 96 of Hastings, formerly of Manly, IA died February 8, 2014 at her residence, surrounded by her children. Martha was born February 19, 1917 in Manly, IA to Frank and Mary (Cinkle) Kamish. She attended Manly schools and married Don T. �Bud� Keeney on April 16, 1938 in her home town. Martha�s love and joy was taking care of her family and staying involved with activities shared with her husband. She and Don loved to travel and for several years, they enjoyed wintering in California and Florida, taking various cruises or visiting family in Germany and England.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don and all of her sisters and brothers. Martha is survived by her three children Don (Carolyn) Keeney of Bettendorf, IA, Elizabeth (Jeff) Coon and Jacalyn Helcl, all of Hastings; six grandchildren Melinda (Kenny) Langston, David (Angela) Keeney, Christopher Coon, Ann (Jonathan) Grafft, Barbara (Wes) Parker, John (Billie Jo) Helcl II; nine great-grandchildren Meghan Keeney, Colton Langston, Elisabeth Grafft, Quentin Langston, Lauren Keeney, Aidan Grafft, Ian Keeney, Owen Parker and Jack Helcl. The Funeral Service, officiated by Gordon Gathright will be held 10 AM Friday, February 14 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St. Hastings, with visitation held at the funeral home from 5-7 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the Friday service. Interment will follow in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Martha�s six grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Memorials to donors choice.
