Marianne Theresa Nicolai

Marianne Theresa Nicolai, age 88, of Hampton, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. Marianne was born August 14, 1925 in St. Bernard, NE to John and Anna (Dohmen) Niebur. She married Raymond B. Nicolai on June 6, 1944 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Carrol, Flory, Omer, Vernon, Jack and Earl Niebur; granddaughter Ann Marie Nicolai. Marianne is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ray; seven children Leo (Joyce) Nicolai, Judie (Mike) OGara, Jerry (Peggy) Nicolai, Ray Nicolai Jr.; Randy (Teri) Nicolai, John (Lynn) Nicolai and Julie (Mark) Peine; also 25 grandchildren Mick OGara, Luke Nicolai, Brian Nicolai, Josh Nicolai, Matt Nicolai, Tom OGara, Andy Nicolai, Tony Nicolai, Kent Nicolai, Lori Nicolai, Lisa Swanson, Mary Nicolai, Tara Riba, Anne OGara, Kelly Smith, Erica Berg, Gina Nicolai, Caryn Riley, Jenny Nicolai, Nicole Berg, Brittany Nicolai, Jena Bjertness, Mandy Peine, Jason Brecount and Nicolee Berg; 25 great grandchildren; sisters Edith (Louis) Momchilovich, Bernice (Richard) Endres and Elayne Donnelly; also many other family and friends. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Stan Mader will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, May 1, at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Hampton. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons and honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters.
