Margaret Cheryl Ann Johnson

Margaret Cheryl Johnson, age 57, of Hastings passed peacefully December 20, 2013 at the Augustana Nursing Home after a long battle with emphysema and COPD.Margaret was born June 17, 1956 in Charleston, SC. She was raised by Warren and Barbara Holman. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1974 and had worked as a nursing assistant in nursing homes.She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Dorothy Hertogs and Debbie Rybka. Margaret is survived by her daughters Heather (Mike) Darst of Hastings and Cindy (Steve) Kieffer of New Richmond, WI; five grandchildren Kara, Matthew and Adalyn Darst, Michael and Kylie Kieffer; brother Paul (Debbie) Holman of Neenah, WI; sister Linda (George) Krtek of Shakopee; aunt Josie Kiechler of Hastings and the father of her children Mike Johnson of Hastings. Margaret loved taking care of people and loved animals.The Funeral Service, officiated by Dan Kocher will be held 11:00 am Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, 615 West 15th St. in Hastings, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Pallbearers are Mike Darst, Steve Kieffer, Alex Hertogs, Paul Holman, Nicholas Holman, Jake Pundsack and Cody Pundsack; honorary pallbearers are Matthew Darst and Michael Kieffer.
