Margaret A. Gustin

Margaret A. “Pete” Gustin, age 93, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on December 27, 1930, to Robert and Irene (Burrows) Gruber in Plainfield, WI.

After graduating high school in Gillett, WI, Margaret moved back to Plainfield to live with her grandma, where she met and later wed Raymond Gustin on August 24, 1952. The couple moved to various locations before settling in Green Bay, WI, where they raised their two children, Brian and Laurie.

Margaret was a dedicated homemaker throughout her life and found immense joy in being a grandmother. After retirement, she and Ray enjoyed their lake home in Hancock, a cherished gathering place for their grandchildren. Margaret, known for her Grasshoppers, Brandy Alexanders, chocolate chip cookies, and banana bread, shared her special recipes with family, creating lasting memories.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, and brothers, Carl and Charles Gruber.

She is survived by her children, Laurie (Don) Bettis of Hastings and Brian (Diane) Gustin of Suamico, WI; grandchildren: Ben, Ashley, Joahn, Drew, and Natalee; 4 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Over the years, Margaret built warm and lasting friendships during her 15 years at Park Ridge Apartments where she took part in various activities and music functions. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at Hastings Senior Health & Living Apartments (Park Ridge Apartments) Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 3-4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her name to Margret’s granddaughters non-profit foundation, Ability 2 Believe, at www.ability2believe.org
