Margaret A. Buending

Margaret A. Buending, age 96; of Hastings, MN; died March 14, 2008 at the Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings. Margaret was born April 28, 1911 in Fort Atkinson, WI to John and Katherine (Schilling) Bellman. She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1929 and from Whitewater State Teachers College in 1931. She was employed at the Municipal Office of Fort Atkinson after graduation as the secretary for three years to Mayor A. Koenig. Margaret married Clarence �Butch� Buending on April 14, 1934. She was a member of St. Luke�s Episcopal Church in Hastings and had served as their organist for 39 years. She was also an organist for other churches for 20 years. She was known as the �bird lady of Hastings� because she cared for many sick and injured birds that were brought to her. Margaret was preceded by her parents, her husband Butch in 1981, and her son John. She is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 1008 Madison Ave., Ft. Atkinson, WI, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. The interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, WI. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
