M. Margaret Caneff

M. Margaret Caneff, age 89 of Hastings, died peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Margaret, the daughter of Mathias and Elizabeth (Wagner) Gores, was born January 12, 1927 in Coates, Minnesota. On October 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Thomas D. Caneff in Coates. She worked as a bookkeeper for several Hastings businesses over the years.Margs devout Catholic faith buoyed her for her entire life. She always believed her deceased daughter, Cindy watched over her and her family. Marg constantly kept Rosaries going for friends and family and attended daily Mass at Regina Senior Living until her health would not allow. She often spoke of looking forward to rejoining her loved ones in heaven and passed away just a few weeks shy of her 90th birthday. We hope and trust its been a joyous reunion. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia Ann in 1951, husband, Tom in 2012; also three siblings. Margaret is survived by her children, Marcia Caneff; Thomas (Nancy) Caneff; Dennis Caneff, Maureen (Jack) Kimmes; Kevin (Linda) Caneff and Melanie (John) Nordman; also 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and by many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, with Father David Hennen and Father Thomas OBrien, concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to Mass on Friday.
