Lucille "Lucy" Lenards, age 72 of Hastings, died peacefully at her home on Friday, August 31, 2018, following an extended illness. Lucille Marie, the daughter of Oscar and Agnes (Hegg) Peterson, was born on September 11, 1945, in Watertown, South Dakota. On May 25, 1968, Lucy married Thomas "Tom" Lenards in Watertown, and they were blessed with three children and fifty years of marriage. Lucy retired after more than twenty years in the grocery industry, seventeen of which were as a cashier at County Market in Hastings. Lucy always had a smile on her face, and wasnt afraid to share her warmth and humor with those around her. She genuinely loved people and had a strong desire to get to know them on a personal basis. Lucy valued holiday traditions and made sure to pass them down to her children and grandchildren to continue the many cherished family gatherings. Lucy also enjoyed playing various games, crosswords, and solitaire. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband Tom; children, Lisa (Wally) Boerum of White Bear Lake, Lynette (Michael) Grondahl of Dunedin, Florida, and Lori Lenards of St. Paul; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; siblings, Arvid (Kay) Peterson and Harold (Barbara) Peterson; and by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018, at St. Philips Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Reverend Greg Geier officiating. Immediately following the service, friends and family are invited to a reception at church. Interment will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings, and for one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday morning. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
