Louis "Jim" Hoffman

Louis "Jim" Hoffman, age 90 of Hastings, died peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Augustana Care in Hastings and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Beverly and his loving mother, Ethel. Jim was born June 18, 1926 in Hastings to Peter and Ethel (Kieffer) Hoffman. He was a Hastings High School graduate, class of 1945, formerly worked at Smead Manufacturing in the 1950s and later was the owner and operator of Jims Tree Service until his retirement. He married Beverly A. Hynden on September 6, 1996 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings. Jim loved to fish and hunt. He also loved visiting and helping his many friends with their needs. Jim took a genuine interest in people and always remembered their names and phone numbers. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly on November 24, 2016 and his brother, Stanley. Jim is survived by his nieces and nephews, Linda (Wyman) Johnson, Gary (Susan) Hoffman, Debra (Henry) Nawrocki, Kelly (Leroy) Jacobs, Crystal Hoffman, Doug Hoffman, Mark (Debbie) Hoffman and Diana (Brad) Anderson; his many great nieces, great nephews and cousins; his sister in law, Betty Hoffman and Beverlys children, Tony and Monique Ecker. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth St. West, Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the Mass, from 9 11 a.m. Friday at church. Arrangements are being completed with Caturia-Smidt Funeral home Cremation Services.
