Lorraine "Rainy" Haines, age 64 of Apple Valley, died peacefully following a recent illness on Friday evening, April 7, 2017, at J.A. Wedum Hospice in Brooklyn Park. Lorraine Louise, the daughter of Howard and Bernice (Hermann) Haines, was born on June 4, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Robbinsdale High School with the class of 1970, Rainy began working at Smeads for a short time prior to working at Honeywell/Alliant as an Inspector. She later owned and operated Times Caf in Apple Valley and later retired from General Dynamics. Rainy loved spending time and fishing at the cabin in Luck, Wisconsin, and also enjoyed reading and playing word searches. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Mary Kraudy. Rainy is survived by her siblings, Anna (Stan) Wagner, Connie (Wayne) Skinner, and Howard Thomas Haines Jr.; her close family friends, Jan Goossens and Kathy (John) Marxer; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings, with a reception to follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Lorraines family would like to especially thank Dr. McKenzie and Dr. Armstrong for the outstanding care they provided Rainey through her journey. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to J.A. Wedum Hospice in memory of Rainy. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
