Lorraine C. Westley

Lorraine Constance Westley was born on May 27th, 1927 in International Falls, Minnesota and died on April 26th, 2021. She lived in Bloomington, MN, for over 45 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey “Wes” Westley, sisters Gloria and Delphine, brother Ronald, parents Helge and Nellie Palmquist, and granddaughter Emily Olsen. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Greg) Hultman, John Westley, Sally (Rick) Schouveller and Kathleen (Wade) Olsen, her grandchildren, Kristen (Ben), Trevor, Elizabeth, Joe and Ryan and one great grandchild, Ember. After graduating from high school, Lorraine ventured out west to work with her sister, Del, in support of the war effort. Upon returning home, Lorraine worked with her family at the Palmquist logging camp. Later, she went to beauty school and moved to the cities. When she finally met Dewey, she fell in love with his gruff sense of humor and hard working mindset. While Dewey built his business, Lorraine ran her own beauty shop and took the lead at home raising her children and later, spending time with her grandchildren. We remember her as a fun loving, playful, imaginative and compassionate person who left an impression of positivity on all who knew her. She really knew how to appreciate the good things in life; butter pecan ice cream, a fresh carrot straight out of the ground, the joy of a really good box to play in, burn piles, Chinese takeout and family pets. We are all lucky we had so much time together to share stories, take trips, sneak sweets and get the giggles before bedtime. She left us the gift of many happy memories but what we hold most dearly is time spent together with someone who really loved us no matter what. We miss her so much already and hope that we can learn to love life as fully as she did. Due to Covid-19, the family will have a private funeral at Nokomis Heights Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Nokomis Heights Lutheran Church at 5300, 10th Ave S, Minneapolis MN 55417 or the charity of your choice. Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel is handling arrangements.
