Lillian M. Schaffer

Lillian M. Schaffer, age 83 of Hastings, died April 9, 2014 at Regina Medical Center. Lillian was born September 4, 1930 in Hastings to Michael and Mary (Eckart) Raway. She was a 1948 graduate of Hastings High School and married Luverne J. Schaffer October 7, 1950 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Luverne; grandson Jeffrey; brothers Henry, Eugene and Sylvester Raway; sisters Rita Hopp, Florence Bauer and Mildred Doffing. Lillian is survived by her children Valerie (Bruce) Buske of Hastings, Janet Holub of Eagan, Larry Schaffer of Hastings, Stephen Schaffer of San Diego, CA, and John (Ruth) Schaffer of St. Paul Park; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Agnes Raway, Dorothy Raway and Loretta Schaffer; also other family and friends. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St in Hastings. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Monday April 14, 2014 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St in Hastings and one hour prior to the funeral at church. The pallbearers are grandchildren Kyle Buske, Michael Schaffer, Samuel Holub, Jessica Schaffer and nephews George Schaffer and Ray Raway.
