Leonard W. Swanson

Leonard W. Swanson, age 98 of Hastings died August 18, 2013 at the Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. Leonard was born November 24, 1914 in Pipestone, MN to Swan and Olivia (Erickson)Swanson. He married Dorothy M. Caneff on November 14, 1945 at Guardian Angels Church in Hastings and farmed all his life in Marshan Township. Leonard was also the former owner/operator of Hidden Greens Golf Course. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy; brother Walter Swanson and sister Lela Clayton. Leonard is survived by his son Allan (Brenda) Swanson of Hastings; four grandchildren Jason (Lisa) Swanson, Brad (Brianna) Swanson, Denise (Brian) Dodge, Nicole Swanson; also four great-grandchildren Trey, Ryan, Taylor and Cooper. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth St., Hastings. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings, and one hour prior to the service at church. The pallbearers are Bill Caneff, Bob Baldwin, Don Stanislawski, Jay Caneff, Mace McNutt and Howard Anderson.
