Leon J. Serres

Leon J. Serres, age 74, of Miesville died on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Leon was born on January 16, 1934 near New Trier to William and Clara (Burr) Serres. He served in the U.S. Army after the Korean Conflict. He married Irene King on August 10, 1957 in Miesville. Leon was a former 3M employee, a 20 year Postal Service employee, the former owner and operator of Kings Place in Miesvilleand the former Miesville Fire Chief. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, and brothers Lornie, Jerry , and LaVerne Serres. Leon is survived by his wife Irene; daughters Cindy (Steve) Schaack, Sandy (Mike) Murtaugh, Julie (Scott) Haus, and Tammy (Steve) Engstrom all of Hastings; 10 grandchildren, Mike (Jenni) Schaack, Danny (April) Schaack, Justin (Kristin) Schaack; Tim and Nick Murtaugh; Mandy, Tony, and Angie Haus, Jeff and Taylor Engstrom; 2 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan Schaack; siblings Don (Pat) Serres, Gerv (Gin) Serres, and Lorraine (Bill) Matsch all of Hastings. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 PMon Friday, May 16, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Churchin Miesville. The interment will follow in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH on Thursday, May 15 from 4 to 8 PM and also 1 hour prior to the service on Friday from 1 to 2 PM.
